Volunteer PE Team
-Helping Those Hit by Irene
This is a call for engineers with experience and expertise in: geotechnical, structural, roads, bridges, site, stormwater, sewer, water or any other discipline related to vertical and horizontal construction and rebuilding. Many residents, businesses owners, municipalities, and counties need our help now more than ever.
In the wake of Irene, many homes have been destroyed and many families have been displaced; businesses have been damaged or destroyed; roads and bridges have been washed out; infrastructure has been ruined; lives have been lost or put on hold. We need to bring hope and stability back into their lives - the lives of our neighbors.
Team Objectives:
· Assist homeowners and businesses in assessing damage and accurate cost for reconstruction, for the purpose of obtaining grants and financing
· Assist municipalities in providing temporary and permanent repair solutions to infrastructure
· Assist homeowners and businesses in temporary repairs for making structures habitable or usable
· Assist in the preparation of documents and forms, for those obtaining FEMA monies and/or other monies for repairs or rebuilding
· Provide other assistance as needed
If we have enough volunteers, we can hopefully provide these services one or two days each week for the next few months on a round-robin basis. By doing so, those who can only put in a few days each month can still help and will not stop the progress or schedule. We need as many professionals as we can get for this operation!
